Before you get started with your Apple TV, it's a good idea to familiarise yourself with the remote control. Here's what all the buttons do.
Here's how to get started with your Apple TV.
The first thing you need to do is connect the Apple TV box to your TV using an HDMI cable, then connect the power supply. There's no power switch so it'll automatically power up.
When you turn your TV, make sure the correct HDMI source is selected.
The first thing you need to do is pair your remote. When you see the screen showing a picture of the remote, press the touchpad area above the menu button.
Choose the language you want to use. You can scroll up and down using the touchpad - it works in the same way as a laptop pad, press to select it.
Scroll down to your Country, and choose it by tapping the touchpad.
Choose whether you want to use Siri, or not. We're choosing Don't Use Siri, but if you want to use it, choose Use Siri.
Choose whether you'd like set up your Apple TV using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, or manually connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
We're choosing Set Up Manually, but Set Up with Device makes it a bit easier if you have an Apple device with an Apple ID.
Choose the Wi-Fi network you'd like to connect to.
Enter your Wi-Fi Password using the touchpad on the remote. Then choose Continue.
You Apple TV will be activated, this can take a few minutes.
Enter your Apple ID, and choose Continue.
A verification code will be sent to Apple devices using this Apple ID, Enter the Verification Code.
Choose whether you want your Apple TV to ask for a password every time a purchase is made. You can choose Always Require, Never Require, or Require After 15 Minutes which lets you make more than one purchase using the same password entry within 15 mins.
Choose whether you want to Enable Location Services, or Disable Location Services.
This lets Apple gather data about the location of your Apple TV.
Choose whether you want your Apple TV to Automatically Download aerial screensavers. They're updated weekly so downloading them automatically will make sure you'll always see somewhere new. If you don't want to update these automatically, choose Not Now.
To send Analytics data to Apple, choose Send to Apple, or if you'd rather not, pick Don't Send.
Finally, you'll need to agree to Apple's Terms and Conditions, and you'll be taken to the Apple TV Home screen.
