Here's a list of items you'll find in the box:
Your Axon 7 Mini uses a NanoSIM, which goes into the left-hand side of the phone. You can also increase the storage capacity by adding a MicroSD card, this goes into the same slot.
To pop-out the SIM and memory card tray, push the SIM tray tool into the pinhole just below it, then pull the tray out the rest of the way.
Put the NanoSIM into the slot closest to the phone with the metal contacts facing down.
If you're adding a MicroSD card, this goes into the slot furthest from the phone, again with the metal contacts facing down.
Push the tray back into the phone.
With the SIM card in place, press and hold the power button on the right-hand edge of the phone to turn it on, and start setting it up.
The first thing you'll see is the 'Setup Wizard', which is a set of steps to help you get the phone set up. During the Setup, you might see a 'SIM Service' message - if you do, tap your network and your phone will download the settings for you.
Choose your language, then tap the yellow arrow.
Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
Type in the Wi-Fi password. If you're not sure what it is, it should be printed on your router. Tap Connect, and if it works you'll see the word 'Connected'.
You can copy information from another Android device, as long as it has NFC (Near Field Communication). To do this, tap Copy Google accounts..., or to skip, choose No, thanks. Then tap Next.
To sign into a Google account, type in your email address. If you don't have one and want to create one, tap Or create a new account. If you don't want to use a Google account, tap Skip.
You'll need to agree to Samsung's 'End User License Agreement', and choose whether you want to send diagnostic data to Samsung. Tick the box if you want to send the data, then tap Next.
Read the 'End User License Agreement' by tapping it, then tap Agree.
We recommend ticking the box to Automatically back up device data, this will keep all of your information backed up to your Google account.
Choose which Google services you want to use by ticking or unticking the boxes, then tap Next.
You can add payment details here if you want, this makes buying premium content easier. It's not essential though, because lots of apps and games are free. To skip this, tap No, thanks, then Continue.
If you're already connected to the internet, the time and date should be right, but change them if you need to, then press Next.
You can add another email address if you want, or tap Not now to skip this.
We recommend adding a screen lock to your phone, and you can do that now if you want. We also cover it in detail later on, so to skip, tap No, thank you and press Skip.
If you've backed up data on an old phone, you can restore it to your Axon 7 Mini by choosing a backup. To set up as a new phone, tap Don't restore.
That's the Setup done with. Tap Start and you'll be taken to your Home screen.
At the bottom of the phone are the navigation buttons, which can be used to help you get around the phone.
You'll need to connect to the internet if you want to use most of the phone's features, like downloading apps and games, sending email, or browsing the web.
From the Home screen, tap Apps, then tap Settings.
Tap Wi-Fi, and make sure the switch at the top is turned on - if it's not, tap it.
Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, then type in the Wi-Fi password - if you're not sure what it is, it should be printed on your router.
Tap Connect. If it works, you'll see the word 'Connected' under the name of your network.
When you're in range of a Wi-Fi 'hotspot' (and Wi-Fi is switched on), your Axon 7 Mini will always try to connect, so to test mobile data you'll need to turn it off.
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Turn switch off
From your Home screen, go to Settings > Mobile networks.
Tap the Data enabled switch to turn it on or off.
If you're still not connected, you'll need to check some other settings. We've written a guide to help you with this here.
We always recommend adding a lock screen to your phone to keep your information safe. There are a few different options, and we'll walk you through them here.
From your Home screen, go to Settings > Lock screen and security > Screen lock.
Choose the type of lock you want to use.
Enter your code, and tap Continue.
Type it again to confirm, and tap Continue.
Choose which notifications you want to show on the Lock screen, and tap Done.
Instead of typing a password or entering a code every time you pick up your phone, you can use your fingerprint, making it easier to verify your identity for online payments and banking apps. Before you can set up the fingerprint reader, you'll need to add a PIN or Password as a backup.
Go to Settings > Customized features > Fingerprint.
Enter you PIN or password.
Tap Register to add your fingerprint.
Follow the instructions to add your fingerprint.
When your print has been stored, you'll see a 'Congratulations' screen. Tap Ok to finish adding your fingerprint.
