The Xperia Z5 Compact uses a MicroSIM, and you can add extra storage by using a MicroSD card. Both of these go into slots in the side of the phone.

Pull the SIM tray out of the upper slot, and place your NanoSIM on it, with the metal contacts facing upwards.

3.

Slide the tray back into the phone, again keeping the metal contacts facing upwards.

If you're using a MicroSD card, slide this into the lower slot, but with the metal contacts facing downwards.

5.

Put the cover back over the slots.

6.

Press and hold the power button on the right-hand edge for 2-3 seconds to turn the phone on, and start setting it up.

4. Connecting to the Internet

squiggle

A lot of the features of your Xperia Z5 Compact, like downloading apps and games, loading email or going on websites, need an internet connection. You can connect to the internet using Wi-Fi or mobile data, and we go through these now.

Turning mobile data on or off

Your Z5 Compact will always try to use Wi-Fi, so to test mobile data you'll need to turn it off.

Go to Settings Wi-Fi > Turn switch off

With it off, check at the top of your screen for a '4G' or '3G' symbol, which indicates your mobile data connection. You might see '2G' or 'E' if your signal isn't the best, but it will still work. If you can't see any symbol, follow these steps to check your mobile data settings.

If you're still not seeing one, you can try downloading the settings by tapping Internet Settings, then Accept. This will download the right settings for your network, and set them up on the phone.

If that doesn't work, you can try settings up the 'APN settings' manually. We have detailed guides for each network, which you can read here.

5. Setting up new email accounts
