One of the core features of your Galaxy S8 is making calls, here's how to do it.
From your Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
The first thing you'll see is the 'dialler keypad'. Enter a number and press the green button to start the call.
To call one of your contacts, tap on the Contacts tab.
Find the contact you want to call and tap them, then press the green phone icon.
Sending texts is a quick and convenient way to stay in touch with people, we'll show you how to write and send new messages, and also how to add attachments (like pictures) to your texts.
From your Home screen, tap the orange Messages icon.
Tap the new message icon (it looks like a white pen and paper on an orange circle).
In the Search Contacts or enter number box, either type a mobile number directly, or start typing the name of a contact - if you see some suggestions, just tap the one you want.
Type your message into the Enter message box.
To send your message, tap Send.
Follow steps 1 to 4 above to get your message ready.
Tap the paperclip, and find the file you want to attach using the icons. When you've found it, tap it to add it to your message.
Add some text if you want, then tap Send.
A thread is a series of messages between you and one of your contacts. Your phone can store thousands of texts, but we recommend deleting old messages every so often.
Tap and hold the name of the thread you want to delete.
When you see the tickbox, tap Delete.
Emails are great for sending lots of information, or if you need to send large files. Our simple steps will have you emailing in no time.
From your Apps list, tap Email.
Tap the Compose button (it's a white pen and paper on a red circle).
Tap into the To line and start typing a contact's name - when you see some suggestions, tap one to choose them. You can also type in a full email address if you want.
Type a Subject into the line above the text box.
Tap into the blank area and type your message.
To send your email, tap the Send.
Follow the above steps to get your message ready - but don't send it yet.
Tap Attach. You might need to tap Allow to let the email app access your photos.
Using the icons, find the file you want to attach to your message. Tap it then press Done.
When you've added all of the attachments you want to, add more text if you want then press Send.
You can set lots of different alarms on your Galaxy S8 - use them as reminders, or as your morning wake up call. Here's how to set alarms on your phone.
From your Home screen, go to Apps > Clock.
Tap the Alarm tab at the top of the screen.
Drag your finger up or down on the hours and minutes to set a time, then tap Save.
Pick which days you want the alarm to repeat on by tapping the letters under 'Repeat'.
You can change other settings like Snooze, Volume, and Alarm tone. Change these if you want, and when you're happy with the settings, tap Save.
When you've saved your alarm, you can turn it on and off by tapping the switch.
Now that you're familiar with the basics, here are a couple of features that'll help you get a bit more from your phone.
The Quick Settings menu comes in handy for getting to some of the most common settings for your phone, like turning Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi on and off.
To open the Quick Settings menu, just swipe down from the top edge of the screen. You'll see some icons across the top that control some of the most common settings like Location and Wi-Fi. Just tap them to turn them on or off.
'Edge Panels' let you add more shortcuts tor your favourite apps. Tap the grey panel down the side of the screen to expand it and see more options.
The first time you open the Edge Panel, you'll see a welcome guide that shows you how it works.
Tap Start to close the guide and start using Edge Panels.
The first page is for the apps you'll use most often, Press the arrow in the bottom right corner to move to the next page.
Panels are customised by pressing the cog icon at the bottom of the screen.
Add a new shortcut by pressing one of the spare + icons.
Pick an app from the apps list by tapping and holding it, then dragging it to where you want it in the Panel.
Press the Back button at the bottom of the screen to go back to your Edge Panel.
