This guide will show you how to get to grips with the core features of your LG K4 - from making calls, through to setting alarms. We've included some super-helpful tips that will help you to make the most of your phone.
Phone calls on the LG K4 are handled by the Phone app, which can be found in the bottom-left corner of the Home screen.
When first opened, the Phone app will show the Dial screen. Dial a number, then press the green phone icon to call it. As you dial, any matches from your contacts will show - tap one to quickly call them.
Tap the Contacts tab to see everyone saved on your phone. Tap a contact to see their info, then tap their number to call them.
The Call log tab shows you any recently received, dialled or missed numbers - tap one to call them back.
Your LG K4 can send texts and picture messages using the Messaging app. We'll show you how to do both.
Open the Messaging app from the Home screen.
Tap the new message button in the bottom-right, or tap a person's name to reply to them.
If you're writing a new message, tap the To box, and start typing a person's name or number. As you type suggestions from your contacts might show - tap one to add them to the To box.
Tap the Enter message box, and write your text, then tap the Send button to send your message.
Sending pictures and other attachments in messages is very similar to sending a text. Follow steps 1-4 (above) to get your message ready, and then follow these steps to add an attachment:
Tap the paperclip to the right of the message box.
Choose the type of thing you want to send.
Go through your phone and find the item you want to send. Tap on it to add it to your message.
Tap the Send button to send the message with the attachment.
A 'message thread' is all the messages sent between you and a contact. Your phone can store many thousands of messages, but if you do want to delete some, here's how:
In the Messaging app, press and hold a person's name until a menu pops up. Tap the Delete button, then tap Delete once more to confirm you want to delete all the messages.
You must have set up an email account on your phone before you can send emails.
From your Home screen, open the Gmail app and tap the new email button.
Tap the To box, and start typing a person's email address. As you type, you might get suggestions from your contacts - tap one to add them to the To box.
Type a Subject for your email an tap the message box, then type your email.
Tap the arrow in the top-right corner to send the email.
Tap the paperclip icon in the top right, then tap Attach file.
Go through your phone to find the item you want to send - tap it to choose it.
If you're sending pictures, you might be asked to resize them. This will make the email size smaller, so it will send faster, but the images might not look as good.
Once the attachment has been added to your email, tap the arrow in the top right to send your email.
Alarms are set using the Clock app on the K4. You can set up as many alarms as you need, and we'll go through how to do this below.
Open the Clock app from the Home screen.
Tap the + button.
Choose the hour, then the minute you want the alarm to sound.
The alarm is now set for that time. You can adjust other options on the alarm, such as:
Once you've learnt the essentials of using your phone, you can look at learning some of the more advanced features. Below are some tips to customise your phone and make it work better for you.
The buttons along the bottom of the screen can be arranged in an order that suits you, and you can add additional buttons too.
Go to Settings > Display > Home touch buttons > Button combination
Once in here, touch and hold a button, and then drag it to the desired position on the bar. There are some additional buttons you can add by dragging them into place on the bar. You can also adjust the colour of the bar from Settings > Display > Home touch buttons > Colour.
If you swipe down from the top edge of the screen, this will open the 'notifications panel'. This shows you any recent notifications, such as texts or missed calls, as well as some buttons to turn frequently used functions on or off. At the top of the notifications panel you'll see buttons for things such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and screen rotation, and tapping them will toggle these functions on or off.
Swiping across the bar will show more buttons, and on the far right is the Edit button, which lets you choose which buttons you want to show on this panel.
