Kit Guide: LG G5 SE - using it

When you're getting used to a new phone, it's tricky to find things sometimes. This guide will help you with the basics, from making calls to setting alarms.

1. Making phone calls

You'll probably want to make calls on your new phone - and every phone does it a bit differently - so here's the LG G5 SE way. 

Open the phone app by pressing the Phone icon on the Home screen.

  • When you open the app, you're taken to the dial pad. Here you can type in a number, then press the green phone to call them.
  • You can also press Contacts at the top to search through your contacts list. Tap the person you want, then press their number and you'll ring them.

2. Sending texts & multimedia messages (MMS)

The LG G5 SE can send normal SMS messages, or MMS messages (ones with attachments). So here's how. 

Sending texts

Open your inbox by pressing the Messaging icon.

For a blank message, press the + at the bottom.

2.

Type in a contact's name or mobile number.

3.

Tap any matching contacts to add them if they come up.

4.

Write your message in the 'Enter message' box. When it's done, press Send.

Sending attachments & multimedia messages (MMS)

 

You can add things like pictures, videos and other files to your texts. We'd advise you to check with your network about charges first though, because these messages will cost you.

Write your text message, but then press the paperclip instead of send.

2.

Pick where your file is.

3.

Tap the file you want to attach.

4.

You'll see a preview of it above your message. When you're happy with it, press Send.

Deleting a message thread

 

A message thread is a list of messages between you and someone else. To delete a full thread, find it in your inbox, then press and hold on it. When it gets a tick next to it, you can press the bin icon at the top to delete it.

3. Sending emails

Before you get going with your emails, you'll need to have the account you're sending from set up.

 

Sending an email

Open your email inbox by swiping the Home screen to the left, then tapping GMail or Email (depending which one you set up).

Write a new email by pressing the + in the bottom-right corner.

2.

Add your contacts name or email address to the 'To' box.

3.

Type a subject in the 'Subject' box.

4.

Write your email in the white box that's left, then when you're finished, press the right arrow at the top to send it.

Adding an attachment

 

You can add pictures, videos and other documents to your email as well. Here's how.

Write the email as normal, then press the paperclip before you send it.

2.

Choose where your file is.

3.

Tap the item(s) you want, then press OK to add them.

4.

You'll see a preview of them on your email. When you're finished adding things, press Send (the right arrow at the top).

4. Setting alarms

Learning how to set alarms on your G5 SE will keep you on track - any day of the week. 

Alarms are set and managed in the Clock app. Open it by swiping your Home screen to the left, then tap 'Clock'.

For a new alarm, press the in the bottom middle.

2.

Drag the circle around the clock face until it's on the hour you want.

3.

Do the same for the minutes, then press Save at the bottom.

That's the alarm set. You can change things like the tone, vibration and snooze settings as well, if you want.
