Making calls is an important part of having a phone, so the steps below will help you with it.
Press the Phone icon on the Home screen. You'll get the dial pad where you can type in a number and press the green phone to call it.
You can also type in a name and any matching contacts will show up.
If you want to look through your contacts, press the Contacts tab in the top-middle.
Tap the contact you want, and then press the green phone to call them.
When you haven't got time for a phone call, a text can be a quick way to keep in touch. Learn how to send them on the G3 below.
Press the Messaging icon on the Home screen (it's the speech bubble in the yellow square). For a new message, press the pen and paper icon in the top-right corner.
In the 'To' box, type in a name or mobile number.
Tap any matching contacts to choose them.
Write your message in the 'Enter message' box. When you're finished, press Send.
You can add pictures, videos and other things to your text if you want, but you'll have to remember that these can cost you. Check with your network about charges.
Follow the steps above, and then instead of pressing send, press the paperclip.
Have a look through your files to find the one you're adding.
Tap the picture or file you want when you've found it.
You'll see a preview of it above your text. When you're happy, press Send.
A message 'thread' is all the texts between you and someone else. To delete a thread, press and hold on the one you're deleting, and then press Delete in the menu that appears.
You'll need to make sure you've got the email account set up that you're sending from. If you haven't done it yet and want some help with it, check our Setup Guide.
On your Home screen, press the Email icon (it's a white envelope with a yellow @ sign on it). Write a new message by pressing the envelope in the top-right.
In the 'To' box, type a name or email address. You can tap any matching contacts that appear.
Type a subject in the 'Subject' box.
Type your message in the white box under the Subject box and then, when you're ready, press the white arrow at the top to send.
To add a picture, video or other type of file to your email, follow the steps above but then, instead of pressing send, press the paperclip.
Choose the type of file you want to add.
Tap the folder that the file is in.
Find the one you want to add, and then tap it.
You'll see the name of the file under the Subject box. When you're finished, press the white arrow to send.
Make sure you're on time for everything by learning how to set alarms on your phone.
Press the Apps button on the Home screen (the circle with six dots in it), and then press Clock.
Make sure the 'Alarms' tab is chosen, and then press the + at the top.
Scroll through the numbers until you've set the time you want. Tap the days you want the alarm to repeat.
You can change the volume, tone and snooze settings as well. When you're finished, press Save.
