Even though you can do lots of impressive things with your B, making calls is still one of the core features you'll need to know about.
Open the Phone app from the Home screen.
When the app opens, you'll see three options along the bottom:
When you have a number showing onscreen, tap the green phone icon to call it.
In this part of the guide, we'll go through how to send text messages, as well as how to send attachments like pictures.
Open the Messages app from the Home screen.
Tap the + button in the top-right corner, or tap a person's name to reply to them.
If you're writing a new message, tap the Type name or number box, and start typing a person's number or name. Suggestions from your contacts might show - tap one to choose them.
Tap the type text message box, and start typing your text.
Tap the paper aeroplane button to send the messages on its way.
To send an attachment, follow steps 1-4 above to get your message ready, then go through these steps.
Tap the paperclip on the left of the message box.
Choose the type of thing you want to attach - a picture, or video etc.
Go through the phone to find the thing you want to send, and tap on it.
Tap the paper aeroplane to get the attachment on its way.
A 'message thread' is all the messages sent between you and a contact. To delete one:
Open the Messages app.
Press and hold on a thread until it turns blue.
Press the bin icon in the top-right.
Before you can send email, you'll have to have added an account to your phone. If you haven't done, read through our Lenovo B set up guide to see how.
Open the Email app from the Home screen.
Tap the new email button in the bottom-right.
Tap the To box, and start typing a person's email address or name.
Type a subject for the email.
Type your email into the box at the bottom.
Tap the arrow in the top-right to send the email on its way.
To send an attachment with an email, follow steps 1-5 above, and then go through these.
Tap the paperclip in the top-right corner.
Tap Attach file.
Choose the type of thing you want to send - a picture, or video etc.
Go through the phone to find the item, and tap it.
Tap the arrow in the top-right to send the attachment.
You can set alarms, and change their settings using the Clock app. There are quite a few different options for your alarm, and we'll go through them now.
Open the Clock app from the Home screen.
Tap Alarm in the top-right.
Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen.
Use the clock to choose the hour and minute you want the alarm to go off, then tap OK.
Tap the Repeat box to choose the days you want the alarm to go off.
Tap the music note to change the sound the alarm makes, and tick the Vibrate box if you want the phone to vibrate and make sound.
Tap Label to give the alarm a name like 'work' or 'school'.
Your alarm is ready, and will go off at the time set. Use the blue switch to turn an alarm on or off, and tap the time to change any of the settings.
Now that you know how to do the basics of your phone, these tips will help you to get a bit more out of it.
Most mobile contracts or pay as you go plans will have a limit on how much mobile data you can use, or may charge you lots if you use too much. You can use your phone's Data usage feature to keep track of how much data you've used, or set monthly limits to make sure you don't go over.
Go to Settings > Data Usage > Mobile
In here you'll be able to see what's been using your data, and when. Turn the switch for 'Set mobile data limit' on, and you can tell the phone what your monthly allowance is, and then your phone will alert you if you get close to it or go over it.
If you find your battery doesn't last as long as you'd like, you can use the phone's battery monitor to see what's using up your power.
Go to Settings > Battery and you can see what apps or features have been using the most battery. Tap Power saving mode to see the options you have for saving more power. One of the options is Lenovo's Extreme power saving mode, which will turn off everything except the phone, messages contacts and alarms.
