This section will help you learn about making calls on the Y3.
On the Home screen, press the green phone icon.
The app opens to the dial pad, where you can type in a mobile number.
Any matching contacts will appear, and then you can press the green phone to make the call.
At the top, press People if you want to search through your contacts. Tapping on one of them will automatically call them.
We've written a couple of steps below to help you send a text message.
Open messages by tapping the Messaging icon (it looks like a speech bubble in a blue square).
Your inbox will open. Write a new message by pressing Compose at the bottom.
Tap the Type name or number box and type in a contacts name or mobile number (you can tap the matching one if it comes up).
Tap the Type text message box and write your message. When you're ready, press the blue arrow to send.
You can add pictures, videos and other things to your messages, but they do use mobile data, and to send them can cost money. We'd recommend checking with your network about these charges.
Write your message first, and then press the + on the left of the text box.
Choose what you want to add. 'Capture picture' and 'Capture video' will let you take new ones to send.
When you've got what you want to add, press the tick in the top-right corner.
You'll get a preview of your attachment that you can change if you need to. Press the blue arrow to send it.
The conversations between you and another person are grouped into 'threads'. To delete a full conversation, press and hold the one you're deleting and a tick will appear next to them. Just tap the Bin icon at the top and it'll be gone.
To get going with sending emails, you'll need to have the account set up already. If you haven't done it yet, our Setup Guide can help.
Tap your email icon (it could be 'Email' or 'Gmail, depending which one you set up).
You'll be taken to your Inbox. To write a new email, press the three dots in the top-right corner. Press Compose to open a blank email.
Tap the To box and type in an email address. Matching contacts will appear and you can tap them to add them.
Add a subject in the subject box, and then tap the blank space below it and write your email. When you're done, press the arrow at the top.
Find out how to add pictures, videos or other files to your emails with the steps below.
Write your email as normal, then press the three dots in the top-right corner.
Press Attach file.
Choose what you want to add from the list.
Look through your files and tap the one you're adding. Press the tick in the top-right corner to add it to the email. Press the arrow at the top to send it.
Lots of us rely on our phone to wake us up in the mornings instead of an alarm clock, so we've written these steps to help you set those important alarms.
The alarm is set using the 'Clock' app, so swipe your Home screen to the left and tap Clock.
To set a new alarm, press Alarm at the top.
Press Add alarm to set it up.
Scroll through the numbers until the time you want is inside the circles.
You can change the tone and repeat options too, and then when you're happy, press the tick in the top-right corner.
