How to reload the BlackBerry Z10 or Q10 Operating System

This guide will assist you on starting up your BlackBerry when you see the red flashing light and nothing else. The light may follow a pattern of 1, 2 or 3 short flashes. A flashing light indicates that the phone's operating system is corrupted. You'll need to re-install the operating system on the device, to set the phone back to its original factory state.

Below are the instructions to do this, using a BlackBerry Link and USB cable. If you want to do this on an Apple Mac, the steps are the same.

Note: your device will be completely wiped from this process. Check your personal data is backed up before performing these steps.

7.

The device should have a solid green light. Downloading and reinstalling the phone may take an hour or more, depending on your internet connection speed. Do not disconnect the BlackBerry until this has finished.

8.

When the restore has completed, either set up your phone, or restore it from a prior backup on your computer. In order to restore a previous backup, you will need to log in your BlackBerry ID on the phone first.
