Kit Guide: Archos 50 Titanium - using it

Now that you've set up your Archos 50, let's get to know some of the basics, like making calls, and sending texts.

Making phone calls

Making calls is one of the key features of your phone. Here's how it's done.

Open the phone app by tapping the Phone icon at the bottom of your Home screen.

The app will open to the 'Speed Dial' page, this is where you'll see your 'favourites', and the numbers you call most often. Just tap a contact here to call them.

If you want to dial a number, tap the blue keypad icon at the bottom of the screen.

4.

Enter the number you want to call, and to make the call, tap the green call button.

5.

If you want to search for a contact that's stored in your phone, tap the Contacts tab, then tap on the contact you want to call.

Sending texts & multimedia messages (MMS)

Another easy way to stay in touch with people, is using texts. This chapter will show you how to send text messages, and how to add attachments to your messages.

From your Home screen, tap the Messaging icon (it looks like a blue speech bubble).

2.

To start writing a new message, tap the + icon at the top of the screen.

3.

Tap into the recipient box and choose who you want to send your message to. You can also enter a mobile number here if you want.

4.

Tap the Type message box, and enter your message.

5.

When you're ready to send your message, tap the blue arrow.

Follow steps 1 - 4 above to get your message ready.

2.

Tap the + icon and find the item you want to attach using the icons.

3.

When you've found the item you want to add, just tap it.

4.

To send your message, tap the blue arrow button.

Sending emails

Emails are great if you need to send a bit more than you would in a text, they're also handy for sending lots of attachments. We'll walk you through sending emails here.

From your Apps list, tap the Gmail icon.

2.

Tap the compose button - it's a red circle with a white pen on it.

3.

Tap into the To box and enter a recipient for your email.

4.

Enter a subject for your email by tapping the Subject line.

5.

Type your message in the blank space.

6.

When you're ready to send your email, tap the white arrow at the top of the screen.

First, get your message ready by following steps 1 - 5 above.

 

2.

Tap the paperclip icon, and find the file(s) you want to attach.

3.

Tap on the item you want to attach, and when you're ready to send your email, tap the white arrow.

Setting alarms

Alarms can be a really useful feature, you can use them as your morning wake up call, or as reminders. Here's how to set alarms on your Archos 50.

From your Apps list, tap the Clock icon.

2.

Tap the Alarm clock at the top of the screen to set a new alarm.

3.

Tap the red + at the bottom of the screen.

4.

Slide your finger around the hours and minutes to set the time for your alarm.

To choose which days you want the alarm to go off, tap the Repeat box, and tick the Days you want the alarm to sound.

You can change some other settings, like the alarm tone, and whether you want the phone to vibrate. You can also turn it on or off by tapping the Switch.

7.

To delete an alarm, just tap the down arrow on the alarm you want to delete, and tap the bin icon.
