How to move contacts to your Alcatel phone

It can be tricky moving your contacts from your old phone to your new Alcatel, so we've written this guide to help you.

If you're moving from an Android phone

Android phones use a Google account, and you can use it to move your contacts. You'll need to have the same Google account on both phones for it to work.

Follow these steps on your old phone:

Tap Contacts (on some phones it might be called People).

2.

Tap Menu or More.

3.

Tap Import/Export.

4.

Choose where your contacts are stored, either Phone or SIM.

5.

Pick the Google account.

6.

Choose Select all, then click OK.

This'll copy the contacts into the Google account, and they'll come through to your phone in a few minutes.

If you're moving from an iPhone

You'll need to use a computer to get your iPhone contacts from iCloud into the Google account, which will push them to your Alcatel.

On your iPhone:

1.

Tap Settings.

2.

Tap your name at the top, or sign in with your Apple ID.

3.

Tap iCloud.

4.

Check the contacts switch:

  • Green: Contact sync is on - move to the next section
  • Grey: Tap the switch to turn it on then tap Merge to get your contacts into iCloud (this might take a few minutes).

Go to the iCloud website, and sign in with your Apple ID.

2.

Click Contacts. You'll see your iPhone contacts appear.

3.

Click Settings in the bottom-left corner, then tap Select all.

4.

Click Settings again and click Export vCard. This will save a 'Contacts.vcf' file on your computer.

Open the Google contacts website.

6.

Log in with the Google account that is on the Alcatel.

7.

Click More, then choose Import from the drop-down menu.

8.

On the pop-up window, click Choose File and find the Contacts.vcf file on your computer. It's usually in the Downloads folder.

9.

Click Import. This will move your contacts into Google, and push them to your Alcatel.

If you're moving from a BlackBerry

You'll need a computer with the BlackBerry software installed, and both phones. You'll also need USB cables to connect the phones to the computer. These steps talk about a PC, but they're almost the same on a Mac.

1.

Plug your BlackBerry into the computer and open the BlackBerry Desktop Software.

Click Organiser on the left, then tick Contacts.

3.

Choose one way to your computer only.

4.

Choose Windows contacts, then click OK.

Click Sync Organiser in the bottom right-hand corner to copy them to your computer.

6.

Open the Start menu and type Contacts in the search box. Click the Contacts program icon.

7.

Select all the contacts (press CTRL+A).

8.

Click Export on the menu bar.

9.

Choose CSV and then Export. Call it 'Contacts' and save the file in the Downloads folder.

Open the Google contacts website.

11.

Sign in with the Google account that is on the Alcatel.

12.

Click More, then choose Import from the menu.

13.

On the pop-up window, click Choose File and find the Contacts.csv file you just saved.

14.

Click Import. This will move your contacts into Google, and push them to your Alcatel.

If you're moving from a Windows phone

You'll need a computer to move your contacts from the Microsoft account on your Windows Phone to the Google account on your Alcatel.

Go to the Outlook People page on your computer.

2.

Click Manage, then click Export Contacts.

3.

Click Export to download a file called 'contacts.csv'.

4.

Open the Google contacts website.

Sign in with the Google account that is on the Alcatel.

6.

Click More, then choose Import from the drop-down menu.

7.

On the pop-up window, click Choose File and find the 'contacts.csv' file on your computer. It's usually in the downloads folder.

8.

Click Import. This will move your contacts into Google, and push them to your Alcatel.

Using a SIM or memory card

If you can't use one of the methods above, you can use a SIM or memory card to transfer your contacts instead. Memory cards work better because they will store more information.

Tap the Contacts app on your old phone.

Tap Menu.

Tap Settings.

Choose the memory card (or SIM).

7.

Pick some or all of your contacts and tap OK.

8.

Take the card out of the phone and put it into your Alcatel.

Tap Contacts.

Tap Menu (3 dots) then Import/Export.

Tap Import from SD Storage.

4.

Pick the contacts you want to import. To choose them all, tap the box icon in the top corner.

6.

Tap Download on the menu bar.

7.

Tap Import on the pop-up window.

8.

You'll see a notice when they're all copied over.

Adding new contacts

Tap Contacts.

Tap New Contact at the bottom.

3.

Pick where to save the contact - the Google account is best.

4.

Fill in the details, then tap Save.
