You can make calls using the Phone app, which is found in the bottom-left corner of your Home screen.
When the phone app opens, you'll see the 'Dialler keypad', which you can use to dial a number. Tap the green call button to make a call.
Text messages are sent using the Messaging app, and you can also add attachments to your messages.
Open the Messaging app from your Home screen.
Tap the new message button in the bottom-right (it looks like a white pen and paper), or tap a person's name to reply to them.
If you're sending a new message, tap the Enter recipient's box and start typing a contact’s name or number.
Type your message in the box at the bottom, then tap the Send button to send the text.
Follow steps 1-4 above to get your text ready, then follow these steps to add an attachment.
Tap the paperclip icon and choose the location of the file you're adding from the tabs at the bottom - camera, gallery or other.

Tap Send to send your message with the attachment.
A 'message thread' is a list of all of the messages sent between you and a contact.

You'll need to have set up an email account on your phone before you can send any emails - if you haven't added one yet, read through our Samsung Galaxy S7 Setup Guide.
Open the Email app from the Home screen.
Tap the new message button in the bottom-right (it looks like a white pen and paper).
Tap the To box, and start to type a person's name or email address. Suggestions might appear as you type - tap one to choose them, or type a full email address.
Add a subject for your email, and type your message.
To send your email, tap Send at the top of the screen.
Follow steps 1-4 (above) to get your email ready, then go through these steps to add an attachment.
Tap Attach in the top-right corner.
Find the item you want to attach. If you're adding images, you might be asked to resize them. This will help the email send more quickly, but the pictures might not look as good.
Tap the Send in the top-right to send the email with the attachments.
Alarms can be really useful, and this part of the guide shows you how to set them on your S7.
Open the Clock app from the Home screen.
Tap the Alarm clock icon in the top-left.
Use the hour and minute sliders to set the alarm time.
Tap the days you want the alarm to sound on.
You can change some other settings, like ringtone and volume by tapping Options.
When you're happy with the settings, tap Save.
Now that we've covered the basics, we'd like to show you a couple of extra features that'll help you get a bit more out of your phone.
Using the Quick Settings menu helps you quickly access some of the settings you use most. It's really easy to open, just swipe your finger down from the top of the screen.
If you swipe down again, you'll see more setting shortcuts, you can edit these by tapping the pen icon at the top of the screen.
This is a super helpful app that comes with your phone, and helps to keep it running smoothly. You can see how much storage space you have left, check what apps might be draining your battery, check the performance of your phone, and scan your phone for security threats.
With the app open, just tap Clean All to get your phone running at peak performance.
