Changing the language settings on your Note 4 can be confusing. There are two language settings - the 'System' language and the 'Keyboard input' language. Both of these can be independent from each other, so when you change the language, you need to change both.
The System Language will control the text that appears in menus, icons, buttons and and any other system items. The Keyboard Input Language will just control the keyboard that pops-up when you compose a text, send an email, or type in any field.
From the home screen, tap the Apps icon (the grid of squares on the bottom row of icons).
In the Apps tray, find and tap on the Settings icon (shown by a cog wheel).
Scroll down the settings page and tap on the green A icon (Language & input).
Tap the top setting (Language).
Tap on your chosen language in the list.
The settings menu should now be shown in your chosen language.
One thing you should bear in mind when changing the language is that they will appear in the list in their native form - so even if you've changed the language to Latvian, the word English will still appear as English (United Kingdom).
The Keyboard Input Language is what you'll use whenever you are using any kind of text input, such as composing a text or writing an email. This should by default be the same as the System Language, but there could be many reasons you may want to add a second or third input method.
Tap the Apps icon.
In the Apps tray tap the Settings icon.
In the System section of the settings, tap on Language and Input.
Tap on the Samsung Keyboard line.
The Samsung Keyboard settings page will open. In the Input languages section, tap Select input language.
Scroll through the list to choose the input language you wish to add, and if it is not already installed on your Note 4 you will be prompted to download its dictionary by tapping Yes.
To change the layout, tap the language then tap the keyboard layout of your choice.
Once you've added the language, you can easily access it by swiping across the spacebar on the keyboard. By swiping across it will cycle through the available languages you have added.
Depending on the chosen language, you may see the letters and layout of the keyboard will completely change to deal with accented or non Roman letters. Also features such as autocomplete and autosuggest will change to the language of your choice.
