Making calls is one of the basics of the Samsung Galaxy A3. Find out how by reading these short steps.
Tap the Phone icon on the home screen to open the app.
On the dialler screen, type the number and tap the green button to place the call.
Type a contact's name (the numbers have letters below them) and you'll see suggestions as you type - tap one to call them.
Tap Hide at the bottom to hide the keypad and see further information:
Messages are another core feature of the A3. We'll teach you how to send text and picture messages in just a few minutes.
Tap the Messages icon on the Home screen to open the app.
The app opens to show you conversations you're part of. There are three ways to send a message:
The Contacts tab lets you search your contact list, create a group of people to send the same message to, or find someone you've messaged recently.
On a new message, start to type a name or phone number and matching contact suggestions will show - tap one to choose them.
Type your message in the 'Enter message' box and tap the orange Send button to send it.
To add an attachment like a picture or sound recording, tap the paper clip on the left of the text box.
Images from your picture gallery will show instead of the keyboard, tap one to pick it. Or, at the bottom of the screen, tap Camera to take a new picture to use, or Other to choose from things like video or sound files, contacts and calendar items.
Finish writing your message, then tap Send.
On the Conversation tab, touch and hold on a thread for a couple of seconds and a tickbox will pop-up beside it. Tick any other conversations you want to remove, tap Delete at the top, then tap Delete again on the confirmation screen.

Open the Email app to see your Inbox. To send a new email, tap the Write message icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
Type in the To line to pick the recipient. if you see the right name suggested, tap to choose it.
Type a Subject for your email, then tap into the main window.
Write your email, then tap Send (or the arrow) on the menu bar at the top.
To add an attachment, tap Attach on the menu bar.
Your picture gallery will show instead of the keyboard, tap to add a picture. Or, at the bottom of the screen, tap Camera to take a new picture to use, or Other to choose from things like video or sound files, contacts and calendar items.
Look through the folders on your phone to find the item, and tap to attach it.
When you've finished adding attachments to your email, tap Send.
You can set multiple alarms on the Samsung Galaxy A3, and in this section of the guide we'll show you how to set and manage them.
From the home screen, tap Apps and then Clock.
Tap the Alarm tab at the top of the Clock menu.
To set a new alarm tap the + icon at the bottom.
Scroll through the hours and minutes to pick the time you want to set.
Repeat lets you set an alarm to sound on several days - tap to pick them.
You can give it a Name, turn on the Snooze feature if you want to, or tap Sound and volume to change the melody played.
Tap Save to set the alarm.
Active alarms are bolder with the switch in blue, and inactive ones are greyed out. Tap the switch to set or unset an alarm, or hold an alarm to delete it.
