All phone calls are handled by the Phone app on your Lumia 950. The tile for this is normally found in the top-left corner of your Start screen - tap to open it and get started.
The first time you open Messaging, you might see a message about using Skype - tap Continue.
Tap Continue again.
Tap Do this later in the top-left to skip searching for people on Skype, or tap Continue to search for people.
If you're using Skype, you might be asked to provide your number. Type it in and tap Next.
You'll be on the messaging screen now. Tap the + button to start a new message, or tap a person's name to reply to them.
If you're writing a new message, tap the To box, and type in a person's name or number. Suggestions from your contacts might show as you type - tap one to choose them.
Tap the Text message box, and and write your message.
Tap the arrow to send the message.
A 'message thread' is all the back and forth messages sent between you and a contact. Follow these steps to delete them:
Open the Messaging app.
Touch and hold down on a person's name until a menu pops up.
To send email, you'll need to have added an account.
Open the Outlook app from your Home screen.
Tap the + button at the bottom.
Type a person's name or email address into the To box. As you're typing, suggestions from your contacts may pop up - tap one to choose them.
Type a subject for the email.
Type your message into the box at the bottom.
Tap the arrow to send the email.
Follow steps 1-5 above to get the message ready, then:
Tap the paperclip.
Go through your phone to find the item you want to send.
Tap an item to add it to your email.
Tap the arrow to send the email with the attachment.
Alarms are set and changed using the Alarms & Clock app. You can add as many alarms as you need, and change lots of their options.
Open the Alarms & Clock app.
Tap the Alarms tab at the top.
Press the + button on the screen.
Tap the Time box, and put in the time you want the alarm to go off.
Tap the Name box if you want to give the alarm a name, such as 'work' or 'school'.
Tap Repeats, and choose the days you want the alarm to go off on.
To change the alarm sound, tap Sound.
You can also adjust the Snooze time by tapping it.
Once you've chosen all the options, tap the Save button at the bottom.
The alarm is set, and it'll go off at the time you've set. If you need to switch the alarm off, tap the switch to the right of the alarm.
At the top of the phone screen is the notification bar. This will show you some information about the phone, such as the signal strength and battery level, and will also notify you about new messages, emails, calls and notifications from other apps.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to show the notification panel, which'll give you more information on the notifications, such as who a message is from and what it says. You can tap any notification to go to the app that deals with it - tapping a text opens Messaging, tapping a missed call will take you to the Phone app etc.
You can also turn some phone features on or off in the notifications panel. At the top are switches for some commonly used features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Rotation. Tap any of these switches to turn them off or on.
