Kit Guide: Medion Life E5001 - using it


In this guide, we'll take you through how to use some of the core features of your device.

Making phone calls


Phone calls are handled by the Phone app, which is in the bottom-left of the Home screen. Tap this to get started, and we'll show you how to make a phone call.

  • The phone app will open up to the 'Speed dial' tab, which contains your favourite contacts. Tap the 'star' icon on a contact to make them a favourite.
  • Tap Recent to see any recently made, received or missed calls - tap one to call them back.
  • Tap Contacts to see a list of all the numbers saved on your phone. Touch a contact to see their info, and then tap their number to call them.
  • To dial a number, tap the blue keypad button. Dial the number, and then press the green phone icon to call it.

Sending texts & multimedia messages (MMS)


Sending texts or attachments is done using the Messaging app, which is on the bottom row of icons on your Home screen.

Open the Messaging app from the Home screen.


Tap the New message button in the top-right, or tap a contact's name to reply to them.


If you're writing a new message, tap the To box, and start typing a contact's name or number. Suggestions will appear as you type - tap one to choose them.


Tap the message box, and write your text, then tap the arrow to send the message.

Sending attachments & multimedia messages (MMS)

Follow steps 1-4 above to get your message ready, and then follow these steps to add an attachment.

Tap the + button to the left of the message box.


Choose the type of thing you want to attach - a picture, video etc.


Go through your phone and tap the item you want to send.


Tap the arrow to send the text with the attachment.

Deleting a message thread

A 'message thread' is the back and forth messages sent between you and a contact. To delete one, follow these steps.


Open the Messaging app.


Press and hold on a message thread, until a tick appears.


Press the bin icon at the top to delete the thread.

Sending emails


Before you can send emails, you'll need to have an email account set up.

Open the Email app from the Home screen, and tap the New message button in the bottom right.


Tap the To box and start typing a person's email address or name. Suggestion might appear as your type - tap one to choose them.


Type a subject for your email, and type your message into the box at the bottom.


Tap the arrow in the top-right corner to send the email.

Adding an attachment

Follow steps 1-5 above to get your email ready, then the next steps will help you add an attachment.

Tap the paperclip in the top-right.


Choose the type of thing you want to send - a picture, video etc.


Go through your phone and tap the item you want to attach.


Tap the arrow in the top-right to send the email, with the attachment.

Setting alarms


Alarms can be set and changed using the Clock app. You can add more than one alarm, and we'll show you how.

Open the Clock app from the Home screen.


Tap the Alarm tab in the top-right.


Tap the + button at the bottom, and set the time you want the alarm to go off.


Tap OK and the alarm will be set.

You can change some of the other options of the alarm by tapping it.

  • Repeat: set the days you want the alarm to go off.
  • Sound: change the sound the alarm makes.
  • Label: give the alarm a name, like 'work' or 'school'.
