Phone calls are managed through the phone app, which you can find at the bottom left corner of your Home screen.
Tap the Phone icon to open the app.
Use the number pad to type in a number, then press the green phone button at the bottom to call that number.
To dial a contact stored in your phone, tap the Contacts tab at the top, then tap the one you want to call.
This section of the guide will show you how to send text messages, and messages with attachments.
From your Home screen, tap the Messaging app and tap the New message icon, which is a blue circle with a white cross. Or, to reply to someone, tap their name in the list of messages.
If you're writing a new message, tap in the To box at the top to choose who you want to send it to. You can type in a number, or start typing the name of someone in your contact list. Tap to choose one of the suggested contacts.
Type your message by tapping in the type message box.
To send the text, tap the arrow on the right of the message box.
Tap the paperclip button and choose what type of item you want to attach.
Find the image you want to send and tap it to view it.
Tap the tick in the top right corner to attach it to your message.
To send the text, tap the arrow to the right of the message box.
A 'message thread' is all of the messages sent between you and a contact. Your phone can store thousands of messages, but you might want to remove old ones every now and then.
To delete a message thread:
Open the Messages app from the Home screen.
Press and hold on the message thread you want to delete until a tick appears.
Tap the bin icon at the bottom to delete the message thread.
To send emails, you'll need to have already set up an account on your phone. If you haven't set one up yet, read through the adding an email account section of our Setup Guide.
From your Home screen, tap the Gmail app, then tap the new message button (a red circle with a pen in it).
Tap the To: box, then type in an email address or a person's name. As you type, suggested contacts will appear, tap to add them.
Tap the Subject: box, and type a subject for your email.
Tap into the main message box at the bottom and type your message.
Tapping the arrow in the top-right corner will send your email.
Follow steps 1-4 above to get your message ready, then follow the next steps to add an attachment.
Tap the paperclip icon at the top of the screen.
Choose what type of file you want to attach.
Find the item you'd like to attach and tap it.
Once you've chosen the items you want to send, tap the large tick in the top right corner.
You might be asked to resize pictures or attachments to reduce the size of the message. Smaller emails will send more quickly, but might not look as good.
To send your email, tap the arrow in the top right corner.
If your email account doesn't set up automatically, you might need some manual settings. This guide will show you how to do it.
Alarms are set using the Clock app on your phone.
From the Home screen, tap the Clock app, then tap Alarms at the top.
Tap the + icon to set up a new alarm.
On the alarm setting screen, choose the time you want the alarm to sound by holding the red dot and moving it around the clock face.
You can set the alarm to repeat on multiple days by tapping Repeat.

Google Now is Google's personal assistant and can help you by giving information on your favourite locations, activities and sports. It can also offer alternative routes for your most common journeys to help you avoid traffic. If you want to know more about what Google Now can do, and start using it, follow these steps.
From your Home screen, swipe left to right.
This is your Google Now page, scroll up and down to view the cards currently recommended for you. You can personalise these by tapping the three lines, then customise.
Google will ask you some basic lifestyle questions so it can offer the best news and information just for you.
You can customise your Home screen to make it easier to access your favourite apps and widgets.
To personalise your Home screen, press and hold your finger on the Home button for a few seconds. The screen will zoom out and show you options for wallpapers, widgets, and settings.
Tap and hold any icon you want to move to the Home screen and drag it to where you want it.
To add a widget, tap Widgets and find the one you want to add. Tap and hold it, then move it to where you want it on your Home screen.
