Kit Guide: LG G6 - using it


In this guide, we'll go through some of the essentials you'll need to know about when you start using your LG G6.

1. Making phone calls


Most phones have different ways of making phone calls, so here we'll run through the different ways you can get it done.

Open the Phone app from the Home screen.


Once it opens, you'll have a few different options you can use.

  • Dial: shows you a keypad where you can dial a number.
  • Call logs: shows any missed, placed or received calls.
  • Contacts: shows all the numbers saved to your phone.
  • Groups: lets you make groups for your contacts.

Once you've got a number on screen, tap the green Phone icon to call it.

2. Sending texts and multimedia messages (MMS)


Sending texts and attachments like pictures can be done is just a few quick steps.

Open the Messages app from the Home screen.



Tap the new message button in the bottom-right corner.



Tap the To box and start typing a person's number, or name if they're saved to your phone. You might see some suggestions as you type - tap one to pick them,



Tap the Enter message box and type your text.



Tap the Send button to get it on its way.

Sending attachments & multimedia messages (MMS)


To send an attachment, follow steps 1-4 above, then go through these steps.

Tap the paperclip on the side of the message box.


Choose the type of thing you want to send - a picture, video etc.



Go through the phone to find the item you want to send, and tap on it.



With it attached, tap the Send button.


Deleting a message thread


A 'message thread' is all the messages sent between you and a contact. To delete one:


Open the Messages app.


Press and hold the thread you want to delete until a tick shows next to it.


Tap the Delete button at the bottom of the screen.

3. Sending emails


Before you can send email, you'll have to have added an account to your phone. If you haven't done, read our LG G6 Setup Guide to see how.

Open the Email app from your Home screen.



Tap the new email button in the bottom-right.



Tap the To box, and start typing a person's email address or name. You might get suggestions from your contacts as you're typing - tap one to choose them.



Type a subject for your email.



Write your message into the box at the bottom.


Tap the arrow in the top-right to send it on its way.

Adding an attachment


Follow steps 1-5 above to get your email ready, then go through these steps to add an attachment.

Tap the paperclip in the top-right.



Choose the type of thing you want to send - a picture, video etc.



Go through the phone to find the item you want to send, and tap it to choose it.



You can choose more than one item, and once you've chosen, tap OK.



With it attached, tap the arrow in the top-right to get it sent.

4. Setting alarms


In just a few steps, you can get your phone ready to wake you up and keep you on time.

Open the Clock app from the Home screen.



Tap Alarm in the top-left corner.



Press the + button at the bottom.



Use the clock to choose the time you want the alarm to go off.

Use the repeat section to choose the days you want the alarm to go off.



Tap Alarm sound to change the ringtone of the alarm.



Use the volume slider to set how loud you want the alarm to be.



Tap Save at the bottom.


Your alarm is set, and will go off at the time you've set.

5. Tips


Now that you know a bit more about using your phone, here's some tips to help you get a the most out of it.

Re-arrange the touch buttons

You can change the order of the touch buttons along the bottom, and add or remove which ones appear.

Go to Settings > Display > Home touch buttons > Button combination.

Here, you can drag and drop the buttons to change the order, or drag buttons on or off.

Smart Doctor

Smart Doctor is an app on your phone that can help to speed up your phone and free up the storage.

Open the app from the Home screen, and the tap Optimise phone to make the phone run a bit faster.

You can also start the Battery saver from here, which will help to make your phone last longer.
