This guide will help you use the main functions of the phone.
It covers making phone calls, sending texts and emails, and setting alarms.
Follow these steps to learn how to make phone calls on your G4.
Tap the Phone app from your Home screen.
Dial a number and tap the blue button to make the call. You can also use the numbers that correspond to the letters shown.
Tap Contacts to look through the names in a list. You can also tap in the search box to find them.
When you have a contact open, tap their name to call them. You can mark them as a favourite by tapping the star.
Tap Call logs to see your recent calls, and Favourites to see your favourite contacts.
This section will help you to find out how to send texts and MMS messages. Remember that you might be charged for MMS messages - check with your provider about costs.
Tap the Messaging app from the Home screen. The icon looks like a white speech bubble on a yellow background.
Tap the compose button, which is a + in a yellow circle.
Tap in the To box.
Type in a number or name, and tap the one you want to text. You can add more contacts like this.
Tap in the Enter message box and write your message.
Tap the send button. To add an attachment, tap the paperclip.
Options will appear to let you choose what you want to attach. You can search through the files on your phone, or take a new picture, video, or voice recording. Tap and hold on the attachment(s) to choose them.
Your attachment(s) will show in the message body. Write your message, then tap the send button.
Open the Messaging app, and tap and hold on the thread you want to delete.
A tickbox will appear next to it. You can choose other threads to delete.
Tap the bin to delete the thread(s).
Before you can send and receive emails, you'll need to have an account set up. If you haven't done this yet, check out our Setup guide.
We're referring to the Gmail app in these steps, but another email app will have similar steps.
Go to your Google folder, and tap Gmail.
Tap the compose button (the red circle with a pen on it).
If you have more than one email account on your G4 and want to send email from a different account, tap the down arrow in the From line and tap the email address you want.
Tap in the To line and start typing a contact. Tap the one you want. You can add more contacts if you like.
Tap in the Subject line and write a subject, then tap in the Compose email box.
Type your message. Tap the right arrow to send.
To add an attachment, tap the paperclip.
Tap Attach file to find a photo, video etc. on your phone. Tap Insert from Drive to attach a file from your Google Drive. Use the menu to find the file(s) you want, and tap to add them.
Write your message, and tap the right arrow to send.
These steps will show you how to set alarms on your phone.
Go to Apps > Clock, or tap the time on your Home screen.
Tap Alarms at the top.
To set a new alarm, tap the blue circle with a + in it.
Drag the blue circle to pick the hour. Do the same for the minutes.
Tap on the days you want the alarm to repeat on (like weekdays).
