You can manage all of your phone calls through the Phone app, which you'll find at the bottom-left corner of your Home screen.
Tap the Phone icon to open the app.
Use the number pad to type in a number, then press the green phone button at the bottom to call that number.
Tap the Contacts tab at the top to see any contacts stored on the phone. Tap a contact, then tap their number to call them.
Follow these steps for help sending texts and picture messages.
From your Home screen, tap the Messaging app and tap + New message.
If you're writing a new message, tap in the To box at the top to choose who you want to send it to. You can type in a number, or start typing the name of someone on your contact list. As you type, you'll see suggested contacts. Tap to choose one.
Type your message by tapping in the type message box.
To send the text, tap the blue arrow on the right of the message box.
Tap the + button and choose what type of item you want to attach.
Find the item you want to send and tap it to view it.
Tap the tick in the top-right corner to attach it to your message.
To send the text, tap the arrow on the right of the message box.
A 'message thread' is all of the messages sent between you and a contact. Your phone can store thousands of messages, but it's a good idea to remove old ones every now and then.
To delete a message thread:
Open the Messages app from the Home screen.
Press and hold on the message thread you want to delete until a tick shows next to it.
Tap the bin icon at the bottom to delete the message thread.
Before you can send emails, you'll need to have set up an email account on your phone. If you haven't done this yet, read through the adding an email account section of our Setup guide.
From your Home screen, tap the Gmail app, then tap the +Compose button (a red circle with a pen in it).
If you have more than one email account on your phone, you can choose which account you want to send your email from by tapping the down arrow next to the 'From' line and choosing an email account.
Tap the To: box, and type an email address or a person's name. As you type, suggested contacts will appear - tap to add them.
Tap the Subject: box and type a subject for your email.
Tap into the main message box at the bottom and type your message.
To send the email, tap the arrow in the top-right corner.
Follow steps 1-5 above to get your message ready, then add your attachment by following these steps.
Tap the paperclip icon at the top of the screen.
You can choose Attach file which lets you attach something that's stored on your phone, or Insert from Drive which lets you attach a file or document that's saved to your Google Drive account.
Find the item you'd like to attach and tap it.
To send the email, tap the right-facing arrow.
Alarms are set using the Clock app on your phone.
From the Home screen, tap the Clock app, then tap Alarms at the top and tap + to set up a new alarm.
On the alarm setting screen, move the hours and minute sliders up or down to the time you want the alarm to sound.
Name the alarm if you want by tapping Label, and filling in the box.
When you're happy with the settings, tap the tick in the top-right corner to save the alarm.
