Everything call related is done through the Phone app. You can find it in the bottom-left corner of the Home screen.
Open the Phone app.
Choose who to call. You can either press the Blue circle and type a number, or you can search your contacts by tapping the bar at the top.
With the number of the contact is onscreen, press the green button to start the call.
The tabs beneath the search bar show your favourite contacts, recent calls, and all other contacts.
You can send two types of text message from the Blackberry DTEK50 - normal text-only messages, and MMS with pictures.
Tap the Messenger app (it's a white envelope over a yellow speech bubble), and open a new message by pressing the blue + icon.
Choose who to send the message to by tapping the To box. You can type a phone number, person's name, or search all your contacts by pressing the button below the bar.
Tap the Send message box to write your message.
To send it, tap the blue arrow.
Follow the steps above but don't send the message yet, then tap the paperclip to the left of the text box.
Choose the type of file by pressing the icon.
Find the file and tap it.
Finish writing your message and tap the blue arrow to send it.
To remove a message from the phone, hold your finger on the thread and tap the bin icon when it appears. Bear in mind that you'll only remove it from your phone - message received on other people's phones can't be removed by you.
Before you can send emails from your Blackberry, you need to have added your account to the Email app. If you set up your phone using our guide, you're ready to go.
Open the Email app. It's the white envelope in the main apps list, and tap the red pen icon to open a new email.
If you have a few accounts on your phone, tap the From line to change the address you send it from.
Press the To line and type an email address, or start typing the name of a contact and tap their details when they appear, then enter a subject for your email.
Tap Compose email and write your email. When you're happy with it, tap the arrow to send it.
Follow the steps above to number six (don't send the message just yet).
Tap the paper clip at the top of the screen, and press Attach file.
Find the document you want to attach and tap it.
Add any more text or attachments and tap the arrow at the top to send.
You can use your DTEK50 to wake you up in the morning thanks to the clock app. You can set alarms to go off on specific days, so you don't need to worry about turning your alarms on the night before work.
Tap the Clock icon in the main apps list.
The buttons along the top of the screen open the Alarms, World Clock, Stopwatch, and Timer menus. The alarm clock should be open by default, but just tap it if it's not.
To set a new alarm, tap the red circle at the bottom of the screen.
Set the time you want the alarm to go off.
Press the Repeat box and choose what days the alarm goes off on.
The switches next to each alarm turn it on and off. When an alarm's active for following morning, a clock icon will be shown in the status bar at the very top of the screen.
Now that you're familiar with the basics, you can start downloading apps and browsing the internet.
