If your iPhone screen is stuck and pressing the Home button doesn't seem to work, you can force your iPhone to turn off and back on again with a few button presses. Read on to find out how to unfreeze your iPhone and start using it again.
Press and release the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button. Then immediately press and hold the Power button until you see the recovery mode screen. All three buttons should be pressed within a few seconds of each other.

If you want to remove your personal data from your iPhone, the best way is through the Settings menu. This will make sure all your accounts, settings and apps are removed, as well as freeing up your iphone to be set up with a new Apple ID. This is a great way to prepare your iPhone for repairs or trade-ins, or even donate to a friend or family member.
From your Home screen, tap on the Settings icon.
Scroll down the Settings menu and tap General.
In the General menu, scroll down to the bottom and tap Reset.
Tap on Erase All Content and Settings to wipe all your personal data from your iPhone. The other options on this list won't remove your data but can reset certain phone settings.
If you've got an iCloud account set up, you will be asked to back up your iPhone before you reset it. Tap Back Up Then Erase to save your data to iCloud, or tap Erase Now to reset your phone without a backup.
To confirm the iPhone reset, you'll be asked to enter your passcode. Type in your PIN or password to restore to factory settings.
Once your iPhone is in recovery mode, check the iTunes screen on your computer. You will be asked to Restore or Update your iPhone. Choose Restore and wait for your software to finish downloading.
After the download has completed, your iPhone will restart. When it turns back on, your personal data will be wiped and you must set up your phone and re-add your accounts.
