Kit Guide: Syncing Outlook contacts and calendars with iPhone

This guide will help you sync your iPhone contacts and calendars with Outlook on your Windows computer.

The steps in this guide work with any iPhone, and Outlook 2016, 2013, 2010 and 2007 on Windows computers. To sync using iCloud, your iPhone must be running iOS 5 or later.

This guide will also help you sync contacts and calendars to an iPad, or iPod Touch.

Syncing using iCloud

Using iCloud, you can set your contacts and calendars to sync wirelessly from your iPhone to Outlook. The steps below will show you how to get it done.

On your iPhone:

1.

On the Home screen, tap Settings.

2.

Scroll down, and tap iCloud.

3.

Turn the switches for Calendars and Contacts to On, if they're not already.

This will make sure all contacts and calendar entries are saved to iCloud. Now follow these steps on your computer:

If Outlook is open, close it.

5.

Download iCloud for Windows from the Apple website.

6.

Open the downloaded file to install iCloud for Windows.

7.

When it's installed, open it, and sign in with your Apple ID and password.

8.

Tick the box for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks with Outlook.

This will sync all contacts and calendar entries with iCloud.

Syncing using iTunes

On your iPhone:

1.

From the Home screen, tap Settings.

2.

Scroll down, and tap iCloud.

3.

Turn the switches for Calendars and Contacts to Off.

This will save contacts and calendar your iPhone storage instead of iCloud. Next, follow these steps on your computer:

Download the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website.

5.

Open the downloaded file to install or update iTunes.

6.

Once that is done, open iTunes.

7.

Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable.

8.

Click the iPhone icon in the top-left corner of the screen.

9.

Click Info in the left-hand column.

10.

In the Contacts section, tick Sync contacts with, and click Outlook.

11.

In the Calendars section, tick Sync calendars with, and click Outlook.

12.

Click Apply.

iTunes will begin syncing contacts and calendars between Outlook and your iPhone. In future, when you plug your iPhone in, it'll automatically sync any new information between your phone and Outlook.
