Kit Guide: Fixing problems with your cooker hood

squiggleboldXL

If you're having problems with your cooker hood, there are a few things you can check before calling an engineer. Here's what to look for.

If the cooker hood doesn't switch on

  • Make sure the hood is plugged in to the mains and the socket is switched on.
  • Check the motor speed switch, it should be in position I, II, or III.

If the lamp isn't working

  • Make sure it's connected to a mains socket, and the socket's switched on.
  • Check that the lamp switch is in the on position.

If the air suction is weak

  • Aluminium filters - these need to be cleaned once a month to keep the hood working properly. They can be washed in the sink with warm soapy water.
  • Carbon filters - you should make sure these are replaced quarterly to keep the hood working at its best.
  • Make sure the air outlet chimney is open.

Hopefully one of these tips has got your hood working again, but if you need any extra help, you can get in touch with a Team Knowhow Expert here.
