This guide will help you open Office documents you've downloaded from the internet, or from email attachments.
Sometimes, Microsoft Office programs, like Word or Excel, won't open files you've downloaded from the internet. To change this, there are two fixes:
Save the file to your computer.
Right-click the file and click properties.
Choose unlock, then click OK.
To change the settings in Office:
Open the program that you're having a problem with (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint).
Open the File menu and click Options.
Choose Trust Center, then Trust Center Settings.
Click Protected View and untick all options.
Note: turning off these options might put your computer at risk from security threats.
