Kit Guide: Starting a Mac in safe mode

Safe mode is a version of the Mac operating system with many features turned off. It's used to fix problems and remove software that's not responding or not working properly.

Starting in safe mode

Turn off the Mac.

2.

Hold down the Shift key, then press the power button while holding it.

3.

Wait for the loading bar to fill. Booting in safe mode may take longer than usual.

'Safe Boot' will be displayed in the top-right corner of the login screen when in this mode. To go back to normal mode, restart the Mac.
