Before you start setting up your speaker, it’s best to make sure it’s fully charged. Connect the speaker to the mains using the power adapter - you’ll find the power socket behind the waterproof socket on the back of the speaker. It’ll take about 4 hours to fully charge your speaker.
Pairing your speaker is easy using the NFC function. If your phone has NFC, just touch it to the ‘N’ logo on the top of the speaker.
If you don’t have NFC, here’s how to do it manually.
Put your speaker into pairing mode by holding the Power button for three seconds.
Make sure Bluetooth is activated on your phone or tablet, then go into the Bluetooth settings.
Choose Add new device.
Now that your speaker is paired, it’ll automatically connect when you turn it on.
Here’s how to set up and use some of the extra features on your speaker.
The SRS-XB40 has lights that flash in time with the music, you can turn this feature on or off by holding the Extra Bass button for three seconds.
If you want stereo sound, you can add an extra SRS-XB40 speaker to give you left and right audio channels. Here’s how to set it up.
Both speakers will need to be switched off before you start.
Press the Power button on one of the speakers to turn it on - the Bluetooth light will flash white.
Hold the Add button for three seconds until you hear a beep. After a few seconds, the L/R indicators will show a solid white light.
Press the Power button on the second speaker to turn it on.
Press and hold the Add button for three seconds. The L/R indicators will change to a solid white light after a few seconds.
The speakers are now linked together, and you’ll see that the Bluetooth light is still flashing on the first speaker. This is the speaker you’ll connect to from your phone or tablet.
Open the Bluetooth settings on your phone or tablet. If you’ve already paired this speaker, it should connect automatically, otherwise, you’ll need to choose Pair new device and pick SRS-XB40 from the list.
You can switch between ‘Double’ mode which plays the same audio through both speakers, or ‘Stereo’ mode, which plays left and right audio channels through the speakers. Switch between these modes by pressing Add.
A Wireless Party Chain lets you link up to 10 speakers together so they’re all playing the same music. The models that can be linked together are the SRS-XB20 , SRS-XB30, and SRS-XB40.
Before you start, you’ll need to make sure the speakers you’re linking are all positioned within about three feet of each other and are switched off. It’s also a good idea to make sure you’ve paired your main speaker with your phone or tablet.
Press the Power button on your main speaker to turn it on, if you’ve already paired it to your phone or tablet, it should connect automatically.
Press and hold Add and + on the speaker for about six seconds until your hear a beep. The L/R lights will flash alternately.
You’ll need to make sure you connect your next speaker within one minute.
Press the Power button on your second speaker to turn it on, then press and hold the Add and + buttons for about three seconds until you hear a beep.
The L/R lights will turn solid white and the Bluetooth light will go off, showing that it’s connected to the main speaker.
To add more speakers, just follow step 3.
