Setting up your Bose SoundTouch 10 smart speaker


There are a couple of different ways to get your speaker connected to your home network, but we found that the easiest way was to use a computer that’s already connected to your wireless network and plug the speaker in using a Micro-USB cable.

Unfortunately, Bose doesn't supply a USB cable, if you’re not sure what a Micro-USB looks like - this is what you’ll need.

When you've connected the speaker to your network, you'll be able to unplug it and move it to the room where you’ll be using it.

Setting up your speaker using a computer


Here’s how to get started with your Bose speaker.

The first thing to do is download and install the SoundTouch app onto your computer. You can get the app for Windows or Apple OS X at the Bose downloads page.

When you open the app on your computer, you'll be asked how you want to connect your speaker, choose Wi-Fi.


Make sure your speaker is plugged into a power supply, and connected to your computer using the Micro-USB cable, then click Continue.


Make sure the correct network is selected, and enter your Wi-Fi password. If you're not sure what your password is, it'll be printed on your router. Click Connect.

It might take a few minutes for your speaker to be added to the network, when it's done, you can unplug the USB cable.


You'll need to give your speaker a name, you can keep the default 'SoundTouch 10' if you want, but if you're planning on setting up another speaker in the future, it's a good idea to call it something more specific - like 'Living Room', or 'Office'.


When you've named your speaker, you'll need to set up your SoundTouch account. Fill in the boxes and click Create Account.

You'll need to remember what email and password you've used so you can log into the smartphone app when the speaker has been set up.

You'll be asked to confirm your email address, just tap Continue.


You'll need to agree with the 'Bose Privacy Policy', click Agree With These Terms to continue.


It'll take a few minutes for your account to be set up, when it's done, just click Exit Setup.

When the setup is done, the SoundTouch app will check for updates. If there's one available, you'll see a screen that says 'Updates Required'. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and click Update Speaker.

It can take a few minutes for the update to be downloaded and installed.

Setting up the smartphone app


Now that your speaker has been added to your network, you can move it to the room where it'll be used.

To get the most out of your speaker, you'll also need to set up the smartphone app. There are lots of things you can do with the app, like setting up the button presets on the speaker, adding your Google Assistant, and controlling all of your music.

You've already added your speaker to your network using your computer, so tap Speaker already connected to network.


The app should find your speaker, just tap Set Up.


Change the name of the speaker if you want, and tap Continue.

You should have set up your account when you added the speaker to your network, so tap Sign in to existing account.


Enter your account details, and tap Sign In.


That's your speaker fully set up and ready to use, you can swipe through the tour if you want some tips on using your speaker, or tap Skip Tour to get stuck in.
